~wrapped up in LOVE

No better comparsion of God's love and comfort
than the thought of being wrapped in the
 heirlooms of our grandmothers.
~~~
Scraps stitched and held in place with the work of hands
whose love reaches beyond the threads of life.
Wrapping ourselves in God's comfort
when we can't piece together the unknowns.
***
Those times when we can't share with others
we can wrap our hearts in His Love and Word.
Remembering the sweetness and dedication
of those Grandmothers
who took the time and devotion to stitch each one,
is a gentle comparison to the faithfulness
of our Saviour.
***
Who is like you, LORD God Almighty?
You, LORD, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds.
Psalm 89:8
***
Recalling those past times
he wrapped and soothed when no one knew
 the hurt and the struggle.
Allowing ourselves to wrap our mind around
these rememberances, brings the peace
knowing HE will do the same for the future.
Blankets wrap you with warmth,
quilts wrap you with love.
Oh, I love this post! These quilts are so, so beautiful. I treasure the quilts my M-I-L made for us. Your words are so very comforting; I needed to read them.
Hi Karen, these are beautiful and truly a legacy.
You will love Nancy and her retreat. What a respite it will be for you, and what wonderful encounters with your Abba await you there.
You will find as you begin your journey with visual journaling, that it will open places of creativity and give you a new way of seeing.
Grace and peace,
Mar
Hi Karen,
Marilyn's quilts are beautiful and what a treasure they are for your family....I just received several from my aunt that she and my grandmother had quilted and they mean so much to me.....
We'll have to compare quilt notes when you and Marilyn come for the retreat...I am so looking forward to meeting the two of you....
Hugs and blessings,
Nancy
What beautiful, beautiful quilts. One of the things I like best about old quilts is the "feel" to them...that worn, soft, touch-ability. Great post- xo Diana
I love old quilts. We have about three old family ones. Such love to put those together. Have you been to Natchitoches lately?
Oh my, how beautiful this is, Karen. It is true, quilts do wrap us in love.
I can't tell you how much I really love this post. Not only is the handiwork utter masterpiece, IMO, but the comparison you gave is wonderful.
I've been referring a lot in my current class to the difference between the rhema (word) and the logos (word). I've been comparing it to puzzle pieces and a full puzzle, but I have now decided that a quilt is much, much more appropriate.
How ironic...I just woke up from a nap on this rainy dark day, wrapped up in a beautiful handmade quilt, fabric provided by my husband's grandmother's dresses. Yep, wrapped in His love, too.
Simply beautiful, Karen. I'm a quilt lover and those pictured here just warmed me through and through. How wonderful it would be to wrap up in such comfort.
Oh Karen, I love these quilts and you photographed them so well--they look really nostalgic--
I loved how you wrote about them and life--great job!
Can't believe you've been to Calico Rock--did you go fishing up there?
