~Parched~

We are sure not parched from the sun
away down here in the south!

The days have been cool (to the sweetheart) and cold to me.
Damp and a little dreary.
Might be needing a little Vitamin D
or if the sun would shine it would fill the deficiency.

Just felt as if today, was needing to be a little light-hearted.
Kinda been on the weighty side lately, wouldn't you say
and this girl loves to have fun.

Memories light the corners of my mind,
misty water colored memories...

how many remember that one?

or when's the last time you had some of these?

JUST HAD TO LET YOU GET
A CLOSE-UP VIEW
DO YOU SMELL THE AROMA?
SIMPLE PLEASURE = WARM PARCHED PEANUTS
what fond memories I have
Mama & Daddy parching peanuts
the shaking of the pan sounds
but, they were in the shell

I have been buying shelled peanuts in the
 produce department at Wal-Mart.
Place them in a shallow pan in a 350 deg. oven
for about an hour.  Shake regularly :)

It has been a few weeks, since I linked up with
Dayle for her Simple Pleasure posts on Thursdays.
But, I'm joining today ~ visit and see what
others enjoy as Simple Pleasures.

I'm thinking that parched peanuts would be similar to roasted peanuts? If so ... yum, yum, a lovely simple pleasure and good memories too.

The peanuts look delicious for the cold, dreary days we have been experiencing. We are expected to have sunshine for the weekend - Yeah!

Oh too funny on your line from "The Way We Were"...I watched that movie last week....it has been decades since I have seen it...I was so surprised to see which parts I remembered, it took on a whole new meaning from when I saw it in my teens!
Have a great day...we are getting cold again here.

Karen, I could almost smell those peanuts. It's been a few years since I had parched peanuts but I agree. They do bring back memories of the warmest kind.

Great post!

I love boiled peanuts. My great grandma used to make the best. And every time I would take a trip to the Gulf Coast, I would always stop for some on the side of the road. :) Best wishes, Tammy

Karen,
I love roasted peanuts. When my husband and I were down south we saw a sign advertising Boiled Peanuts, so we stopped to buy them. We were disappointed and thought we were eating cooked beans. It was a new experience, for sure! please stop by http://lindaoconnell.blogspot.com/

Now Karen.....you know I want me some hot peanuts right now!Look what you went and did! made me drool, and brought back a happy memory.I remember when I was a first grader living in Natchez,Mississippi. There used to be a very elderly couple that went up and down the streets calling,"Hot peanuts in a brown sack!" repeatedly.Their voices, coming closer and closer, would send me to stand on our front porch waiting for the horse drawn wagon. It sounded better to me than the the wooing music of the ice cream truck! Sometimes Mama could be persuaded, perhaps by the smell, to buy a bag. We'd sit on the porch nibbling peanuts and watching the happenings on our street. (You do remember that children used to play outside?)
