I would rather have
Moments
filled with lasting joys
and not
empty pleasure
As I prepared this post, I searched for photos, go ahead and admit it
we prefer pictures over words. As the pictures came together I began thinking about the beauty of them,
pleasing to the eye. I almost entitled the post
eye-pleasers.
But, as I started writing and looking at verses of scripture HE reminded me
that all of these beautiful things he has graced me with this season... will fade. They are not lasting.
Isa 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth:
but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
Sure I may be able to winter some of the plants, but the blooms and leaves are going to wither and fall.
On Mondays I share my heart by letting you read my
~ jotted down list~ of the wonderful gifts HE has
given me over the past week.
These joys are:
lasting
those that make the heart smile
sense activators
contentment givers
worship causing
memory keepers
heart warmers
my list reads simple
141. surprise from husband and son's grocery shopping trip
142. vaccuumed van
143. reminders of His controlling hands
144. peace when I'm at His feet
145. prayer & coffee time with a wonderful Southern Lady
146. planned in home Bible Study (Lord prepare our hearts)
147. successful surgery for Granny
148. laughter with two Senior Citizen sisters
149. extra time the dishwasher allows
150. Saturday am alarm clock "bird" outside my window
151. the sound of the leaves rustling with the wind
152. the glow of the new bedroom lamp
153. no fear at night time when husband is away
154. communion shared with believers on Sunday morning
155. those who minister faithfully to the congregation
156. Saturday afternoon drive with my sweetheart
157. comments from Katie
158. Tuesday morning ladies Bible study & prayer time
159. answered prayer for son's job

Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return,
and come with singing unto Zion;
and everlasting joy shall be upon their head:
they shall obtain gladness and joy;
and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.
Isa 51:11

A wonderful reminder of what is lasting, Karen.
I really love your scripture at the end.
Very nice list today. It really has
changed my life to keep an account
of all His blessings in my life.
I am forever grateful.
Love your list, Karen!
Thank you for sharing such true words for us to ponder and beautiful photos for us to feast our eyes on. God bless you!
Karen,
Those photos are stunning and rich in season's colors. I loved your post as well, emphasizing the difference between the joys that fade and those that last. One touches the heart, the other only the eyes.
Thought full.
Blessings,
Janis
I agree with Gail-LOVELY!
How precious and may we all experience his hands and little boy/girl laughter.

Beautiful reminder for all of us...being grateful for the each precious moment we have each day!! Love the little boy laughter....laughter is so healing.
Thank you so much for this Karen! We so want to hold on to the things of this earth and yet we are supposed to remember that we aren't meant for this in the end. It is all fleeting! This is a wonderful reminder to appreciate the blessings while being ever-mindful that He is the only thing that lasts! :-)

P.S. Karen, I feel so bad that I just realized you haven't been on my blogroll and wanted you to know that I have remedied that! :-)
Such a wonderful reminder of what's important and what's not. I'm so glad you came by for a visit. I've been very slow about getting around for visits, trying to take more time to visit with my blogging friends. I hope all is well your way... hugs ~lynne~
What a wonderful list! I joined the Gratitude Community and kept a journal until I reached over a thousand gifts. It was a great experience.
