~Traditions~

It probably means nothing to you....
but, it's my
Simple Pleasure

(our oldest son)

Not many 21-year olds
get to play Skip-bo with their
90 year old great grandmother

The rest of the story....

A Thanksgiving tradition was started a few years back in my husband's family.
Most of the family members take part in a Skip-Bo Tournament.
One of the family prepares a tournament bracket.
The games begin, sometime two different games happening at the same time,
this may continue even into the next day, but finally a winner is declared.
The champion gets crowned with a (home-made cap),  their picture is taken and framed.
The winner will rein as Skip-Bo Champion until the next one is declared the following November.
Sound silly????
I don't think so just some Simple Fun!

This picture is a treasure and brings a smile to my heart and face!
Just a Simple Pleasure!

Today is Simple Pleasure Day over at A Collection of This and That

Karen, what a delightful Simple Pleasures post! I can so relate. My mother (although she's a mere 78 ... hehe) loves to play Skip-bo with her kids and grands. I love the idea of a tournament. How fun!

I totally don't put this in the "means nothing" category! I love it! I think that things like this are the glue that holds a family together and gives them their sense of "Us-ness". Just look at the faces in the picture. They tell it all.

This is a great simple pleasure. I wish that I had something like it!

That sounds fabulous!!! What fun!!! What a great family tradition!!!

I haven't played Skip Bo in at least five years, but it was always tons of fun for us to play.

I am majorly into family traditions too, that's why we always have certain foods and activities for certain things. Like the World Series is coming up. Even though, our favorite team, the Red Sox, won't be in it, it's tradition to watch EVERY game...and to have baseball stadium food during several of the games. It just wouldn't seem right if we didn't do this every year.

So, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your Skip Bo tournament. What a fun thing to look forward to every year.

Have a lovely day.

Love,
Patti

What a wonderful, happy photo. I'm going to look up Skip Bo now, I've never heard of it. I think I'd like though. I play Uno with my little grandson, we love that.

Hi precious friend,
I missed you also. I'm glad to be back and it feels so good to have been missed.

It is taking me awhile to get caught up on my blog reading but I will eventually get there.

Love this post. I cannot believe G.G. is ninety. She is beautiful. Would you give her a hug for me? And your son is precious and this is a "means everything" post as far as I am concerned. What a blessing.

Love,
Dianne

Hi Karen, Thank you so much for visiting with me and for your prayers for us. I love this post tonight. What genuine, beautiful smiles and what treasured times with family. May God bless you and your family richly this weekend. I love your Autumn decorations in your earlier post. This is my favorite time of year.
