I believe this picture should be entitled,
Still Life...
These thoughts came to me as I played
with the editing and posting of the picture.
I started preparing our home today
with autumn in mind.
The reminder that we must learn
how to still ourselves
and allow Him to speak,
was given to me.
This chair is located in our foyer and I rarely sit there.
I do believe it will be a new place,
to be quiet before Him ~ and still ~ to hear His voice~and obey.
The Dog Treat Canister (I was surprised too, when I read the sticker)was added in this photo. The duck decoy is very old, it belonged to my husband's grandfather. |
Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.
Psalm 46:10

Oh...I LOVE the setting. The colors are all so warm and inviting...and it DOES look like the perfect place to sit, and be quiet before him.
Happy Fall my friend.
Love this Karen. I, too, have a special chair in a quiet corner. I started making it my custom because my grandmother always sat in a special chair for her Bible and praying time. It has become "home". You commented on my blog that you had been through a similar situation as I (job). It is nice to know others who made it "through" too!
Your chair is a beauty, Karen. Looks like a terrific place to pile up and stay a spell.
Look forward to having you anytime you can link up for the Simple Pleasures series. Thanks for stopping by.
Can you come decorate for me??? You have a beautiful home. I always feel "at home" when I visit your blog.
Karen, what a beautiful place to sit and reflect. I'm glad you stopped by to say hello... I hope you have a terrific w/k..

Karen, I love this post and it really reminds me of how I need to carve out time and space to be still before Him! It can be hard to do in this season of my life but that should make it all that more important! Thanks so much for linking this up to the party,
Vanessa

I so hear what you are saying. Just this morning I had my Bible out and open on the kitchen counter, trying to find a specific verse all the while fixing a meal to take on a trip to the coast. That felt wrong - how can I listen when I'm distracted??
Great post.
Hello! I am brand new here. I adore your lovely little spot you chose to photograph. It's such a great sentiment. Your chair looks so cozy and inviting too. I just want to curl up on it. I can't wait to start decorating for Fall now. All these lovely blogs for inspiration online. Have a blessed Labor Day weekend.
