Decorator's Nightmare

If God had a refrigerator your picture would be on it.   Max Lucado

This is probably a decorating diva's nightmare.

But, I'm saying "this brings comfort".  The faces of family and friends, those we love and don't see as often as we would like have a special place in our home.  I'll never forget when having photos on the refrigerator became so special.  We had moved  for the first time in our married life, after 18 years in the same home I might add, and the move had taken us over 19 hours away from those we loved and knew well.  To put it mildly, "we were home-sick".  But, to walk to the refrigerator, and look on the door brought such comfort. I got the bright idea one day to become "Mrs. Decorator" and remove them.  My husband let me know right quick that wasn't happening. He also found comfort at the refrigerator door!  This is one of the first "eye-pleasers" that you view, when you enter our home through the back door. We now have added photos of new friends, and it has also become a great way to introduce our new friends to our family and those we've shared memories with. The refrigerator gets re-decorated once a year, after the new Christmas cards arrive at our home.

Just thought I would share a Place of our home that is special to Our Heart.

That's funny because I've done the same thing before. The books say to, don't they? But no, it's never the same. I try to keep mine rather organized, at least in my mind's eye, but the overall effect is a pleasant comfortable confusion. I hear ya!

Me too!! My loved ones are with me while I'm "Always Nesting" in my kitchen. Yours are so organized. Mine are *blush* a huge mess, lol.

Hi Karen! Oh, I think photos on the fridge are just fine! I used to collect little fridgeie magnets and they were all over my fridge! I took them off a couple of years ago and just have to have a few more up there. I think in our homes we should do whatever makes us happy! Looks like you have many many friends and family up there!
Oh, I'd love to see your window with the little chicks in them. Thanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

I LOVE that saying by Max Lucado! I just heard that for the first time this year. What was the other one...something like if God had a wallet, your picture would be in it? I love that. Thanks for the reminder! :-)

After reading Max Lucado's book, The Great House of God, I realized that our Father wants us to be comfortable in His home. And I also understood that He wants to be "at home" in ours! Thanks, Karen - another great post!

I love this post (and your blog!). When I moved into my new apartment a couple months ago, one of the first things I did was put photos up on the fridge, and I asked my young friends to create some art, too. It always makes me smile :-)
