Our family is nearing a six year celebration.
The month of October will date our Mississippi address.
After, a brief nine months in North Carolina,
we embarked upon the second move in the same year.
Quite a feat for a family who had lived in the same home in Louisiana for eighteen years.
We were not the moving type. :-)
Shortly, after moving to the state
I never dreamed of living in,
I realized the straw must be fluffed and make the nest our home.
I don't recall how the Mississippi Magazine was discovered,
but while unpacking the boxes and hanging pictures
I subscribed to my first copy.
No better way to discover new places
in the state I now called home.
Every two months the old copy is stored in the closet
and the new one is placed on the coffee table.
Six years of magazines and I'm not the pack-rat type!
Just can't seem to to part with a one.
My mother-in-law's visits even include time
to play catch-up with the wonderful issues.
~
Hours can be spent exploring the pages
to find new towns to visit, decorating ideas,
and tasty recipes. The magazine contains
shopping guides for really unique shops
throughout our state.

The Mississippi Magazine
is the best travel guide
for planning a day out
or a weekend getaway.

Looks wonderful!
I still subscribe to Louisiana magazines, although we have been in Texas now (will be 20 years in November) I still call Louisiana home most times.
Your pictures are beautiful.
Your table looks wonderful, and I love the idea of the magazine. What a perfect way to put the Mississippi stamp on your home.
I love Mississippi magazine, but I love Delta magazine better. Have you seen one, they are fabulous-it covers a lot of Mississippi too.
Beautiful photos! I love a good magazine, they can be such a wealth of information, as you pointed out. How fun that you and your mother-in-law spend time going over them. - Have a lovely weekend!
My niece lived in MS while she attended law school at Ole Miss. She still visits friends and enjoys sightseeing and trying restaurants there.
Have a great weekend. Mildred
What a fun way to get to know your new state. I am not the moving kind either, but have moved more in the last three years than in all my life.
So glad you have been there for six years...and so glad it is so close to your home state.
Your blog looks wonderful...you do such beautiful work with your pictures and site...so talented
Hi Karen! We were just so thrilled to have you link up to Inspiration Friday this week and I think it is so wonderful that you have made Mississippi your home and embraced it with open arms. :-) Your photos are just gorgeous as usual!

P.S. We added you to our blog roll! :-)
I was born in Mississippi but we left when I finished 2nd grade and I've only been back to visit. I grew up in TX and LA -- we moved every three years and even when I married the first time, I moved every year. I've been longer in Kuwait than any one place in my life -- 17 years in December. Who would have ever imagined? Sounds like a great magazine. Most people forget to visit places right in their own backyard. Have a great weekend. Tammy
Your photos are so lovely.. goodness! I love your vignette with the magazine. xo marlis
Your home looks so warm and inviting. What a great way to become acquainted with your state.
Beautiful Karen, and sweet story to go with such lovely pictures. Have a wonderful weekend.
