Light @ the End of the Tunnel

I can see the light at the "End of the Tunnel".

The computer chair hasn't been occupied too much lately
for a couple of reasons.  I feel as if I should play catch up.

This post is dedicated to "my hard labor".

I will not bore you with a tutorial. :))
And I really would like to forget the aches & sore muscles.

But, I would love to share with you,
PLEASE WEIGH YOUR OPTIONS -
BEFORE BUILDING A DECK
~High Maintenance~

We treat our outside area as another room of our home.
So up-keep is a must!
The deck & gazebo area is a little over 900 square feet.

The "fruit of the labor" is beginning to be enjoyed.
I will be adding accessories & flowers in the next few weeks, the excitement of starting to place accessories could not be restrained!

I began this project following the storms here in the south.
My "helpful husband" was completely wrapped up
in his work due to the need for electric poles.
His helping hands were not free to help
 with the staining & sealing.

SO DETERMINATION BECAME MY FRIEND!

The plants are soaking up the beautiful sunshine.

The birdbath has been re-purposed, such a great place to sit
 "your glass of ice tea".
I placed our collected seashells in sand
and covered it with a round table topper glass.
You can purchase the glass at Wal-mart.
Fit just perfect for my size birdbath.
This makes an interesting conversation piece.

I don't know about you
but, I've been longing for something "blooming".
The geranium & candleholder are sitting
on top of a glass topped buffet.

The gazebo area is my perfect break-time from housework.
I'll be sharing more pictures as time allows of my "getaway" spot.
I am now spending a few hours each week working outside the home, another reason the blog posts and visits
have been few & far between.

We are enjoying beautiful weather here in Mississippi.
40's at night & 70's in day
Beautiful blue skies after the devastion.

Please continue to remember those whose lives have been affected by the terrible storms.  Our small county lost three ladies, which
was in five miles of our home and lots of destruction.

Looks like you've been working hard! I can't wait to see your deck finished, I remember it from last summer and it was beautiful. Love the table/birdbath idea.

My sister lives in Arkansas and their little town, Vilonia, suffered badly from a tornado hit. Four lives lost there. I cannot imagine living through a tornado it must be more than terrifying.

Hi Karen...

Ohhh my goodness...you HAVE been a busy little bee, my friend! But it all looks fabulous! Wowzer...your deck and gazebo is awesome and such a GRAND size! It would be like decorating a small home! Hehe! Girl, I can't believe that you cleaned and restained that deck yourself...I'm impressed! Eeeks...I probably wouldn't have been able to move for days...if I did that! I love all the little snippets of how you are decorating this fabulous area...sooo sweet! Love that pretty blue floral pillow! What a great idea...to do a little vignette in your bird bath and then covering it with glass to use as a table! That's a great idea and it looks really pretty! Can't wait to see more, dear friend!

I just wanted to stop by to say hello and see how you were doing. Since I have been on a blogging break...I'm trying to catch up with all my dear friends! Hope that my note finds you and your family all doing well! Take care!

Warmest spring wishes...

I hope you used a roller to put that stain on! My deck needs work, but I can't seem to find the time-does it seem like the days are shorter and the to do list is longer?

Hi Karen! Every time I see your deck I think it is just incredible! But I agree that they are totally high maintenance. I feel like I can't complain about our small one after seeing all the work you are doing to yours! :-) All of your Spring vignettes are just lovely and I really like that pineapple candlestick...just shows the spirit of hospitality at your home!

It all looks wonderful Karen. Glad to see your back. I have been antiquing alone :( Well, not really alone, Sophie goes with me, and all of the places have been wonderful about letting me bring her in.

What a huge deck! It's lovely and you should be very proud of your hard work. It's so good to hear from you tonight Karen. God bless you.

Hi Karen, Thanks for visiting me today. I am praying for those affected by the storms and also for those who had to evacuate because of the flooding Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. Your photos are beautiful.

Karen! I had been missing you and your posts. I see that you have a good excused absence. The deck area looks wonderful, and I couldn't agree more about deck upkeep. I was just lamenting as much to my mom. Ours is in need of a makeover.
