~hearts~

What a Sim    ple Pleasure
to find last Thursday morning.
I was preparing the coffee pot
and looked out the window,
and right before my eyes
was a simple reminder
that He is mine
and I am
His.

Please excuse the space in the word but, how could I not resist.
The thought come to me to create a heart with the words,
but, I hope you believe me when I say it happened
right before my eyes with hardly no effort at all.
I only had to add the space between simple.
Is that not precious are what?
Most of the time I think
 someone else is typing
 the words and giving
them to me.

After, almost 24 years with my sweetheart the spark is still there!
I still get butterflies sometimes and he still blushes!
The spark may have dimmed at times and we had to blow
the ember to make it light up again, but we never let it sit
and smolder long. There is where the danger lies.

I've been waiting to share this and I believe this is the perfect time.

A true older southern lady shared with me some ageless advice
from her Home Economics teacher (remember Home Ec.?)

It went something like this-
girls when he comes in from work
have his pipe ready, his coffee cup out, and his slippers waiting
and you have yourself fixed, because he has been at work
all day with pretty girls!

I know things have changed since those days,
but men have not, they still desire the
same attention and respect.

THE KEY
It's not hard doing (that word most women don't like) submitting
when he loves me like Jesus Christ loves His children.
Ephesians 5:25

It just saddens me that wonderful
 girls and ladies
 have not had the opportunity
and are not experiencing the way
God intended a marriage to work.
Hearts have been broken and lives have
been re-routed.  Not what you expected and
 not what God intended.

 But, HE is your hope!

O Lord, you alone are my hope.
  I've trusted you,
O Lord, from childhood.
Psalm 71:5 NLT

I'm sharing with the others over at
A Collection of This and That
for Simple Pleasure Day.

Muito bonito este gesto do seu marido. Depois, de 24 anos de casada ele ainda esta enamorado. Que o Senhor Jesus continue renovando o seu amor e casamento. Parabéns .Beijinho

What a beautiful and wise post, Karen. I love the heart you created with your words, and I love the "elementary style" love letter on the board.

I cringe when I hear of gals who greet their husbands when they come home each day in the same sweat pants and T-shirt they've been wearing all day. I'm quite sure, they dressed up a bit more than that when they were dating...and hubby STILL has the same desire to see his gal looking nice. I try to remember (don't always do it) to renew my lipstick and body mist before hubs gets home.

Thanks for the reminder to go the extra mile to keep love alive in our marriages.

Blessings,
Patti

I absolutely agree with your thoughts...from beginning to ending, in this post, Karen. Not that I have the ideal marriage...we're a modern make. My guy is a hard working hard labor man, rough around the edges and not always easy to live with but we are one. Jesus is our glue ♥

I love your heart!! How awesome was that?!!

Karen, I love this. It literally gave me little goosey bumps as I read it for some reason. Maybe it's because you were able to create that heart with so little effort. Or maybe it's the little heart you discovered. I actually think it's because you wrote words that it's so un PC to say today, but they are words that are so very true!!!

Great post today. I stand by every word.

Not only is this post cute but I totally agree with you about submission. We need to put others first, especially out husbands.

This is so sweet. What a wonderful man you have! I agree - and it is so hard to be someone who believes in wifely duties and submission in today's postmodern era. Thank you for the simple, and oh-so-Biblical reminder.

I wondered about the space at first, not noticing the heart. That made me grin from ear to ear!

Karen what a beautiful and loving post! I lost my precious husband two years ago this month and the pain is still almost unbearable at times. We would have been married forty years the following month after his passing. It was an incredible, Godly marriage, and I'm soooooo grateful to have had that.

Hi Karen...

I was coming over to say thank you for your visit today! I'm sooo glad that I came by...this is such a wonderful post, dear lady! I loved your little heart words and the lovely photo to go with it!!! You know, I love my husband truly and always thank the Lord for giving him to me...I am such a blessed woman!!! I really enjoyed reading what you wrote today and I totally agree! When the Word of God talks about wives submitting themselves to their husbands...it's a joyful journey...when the husband in turn is loving his wife...as Christ loved His Church! I take joy in submitting myself to my husband...but I have total confidence that I am his heart!!! Well...I just had to put in my two cents worth today! I feel so strongly about this message and I think it's so misunderstood today! Thank you so much for sharing it with us...and the scriptures!!!

Warmest autumn wishes,
Chari @Happy To Design

What a wonderful reminder. Sadly, a few years back we lingered awhile where the embers were cooling. It was a time of intense hurt. Praise God that He brought us through and the fire is burning strong after 10 years of marriage!
